1 week to go!

Welcome to our blog for the trip!

With one week to go, I would like to introduce the blog and to ensure everyone has all of the information they need.

Whilst we are away I will update the blog as regularly as possible with brief information about what we have been up to!

In preparation for leaving, I have a couple of reminders I would like to share with everyone:

Rhiannon, our team leader will be leading the bag check on Thursday 7th July at 3 30 until approximately 5pm. This is to ensure that each of you knows exactly what is in your bag, and where to find it. Following this, you must be at school by 2am on Friday 8th July - the bus will be parked on the road outside school as we will not have access to the bus park at that time.

Please ensure you have $200 (US dollars) in cash and two passport style photos for the volunteer permit that will be required upon arrival at Camp Mbokomu, our first camp.

Also, leave room for one carrier bag in your hold bags - we have packed up some donations for each of us to take - pens, pencils, sanitary products, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, toys, and more, as well as letters from some of our other students that we can share with children in Tanzania and Kenya. We will provide these bags at the bag check - if you want them sooner and are able to get into school please contact me and we will get them to you in advance.

I also ask that you have two photocopies of your passport, one to leave in school, and one for us to keep whilst away. If you do not have access to photocopying facilities, bring your passport to the bag check and I will get that done.

A final reminder to begin your anti malarial tablets on the day that is required as directed by your doctor or pharmacist (I have Malarone and need to start taking tablets two days before travel, so will be starting my course on Wednesday).

Please keep checking the blog over the next week as I will post any information or reminders on here, and for parents/carers and other family members, check the blog regularly whilst we are away on expedition for updates.

There will be a link on the school homepage after we depart if you are unsure where to find the blog, but the URL is http://eatanzania.blogspot.com ... save it into your favourites!!

See you all soon!

Mr Lister
